Victory for KAVC Veterans In Rwanda 2009

KAVC Women are champions in Rwanda ---- Congratulations

In spite of the accident that befell our member Moses Opio yesterday, KAVC (Kampala Amatuer Volleyball Club) ladies  have swept the women's title in the 2009 edition of the Rwanda International Memorial Tournament  at Amahoro Stadium, Kigali.

On their way to the top KAVC beat Rwanda Revenue Authority 3-1 at the semi-final while counterparts KCC beat Rwanda Patriotic Army (APR) 3-2 in the other semi-final. KAVC then completed the trick by doing a quick work of sisters KCC in straight sets 3-0 25-20, 25-20, 25-17 to clinch silverware that had eluded the Kampala girls since 2003. KAVC adds a fourth onto its Rwanda-shelf after winning the 2001, 2002, & 2003 editions. I think this trophy should be dedicated to Moses Opio who is to undergo surgery starting tomorrow.

On the men's side our men didn't make it to the elimination stage however Uganda's Sport S made the semifinals but lost to APR 1-3 while Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC) took the other semi against National University 3-2

APR then beat KVC 3-0 to retain the men's title.

Hullo to all, Congs ladies for making us proud once again. Four sure the achievement is worth celebrating but hey, we have alot more silverware to collect so we have to train harder, thank you ladies. To the guys, iam sure you have learnt quiet alot from this exposure. All that is left of us is to train harder and we have the silverware in our shelves. However, as suggested by one of our colleagues, Opio needs our support and prayers for him  to recover fast. We hope he goes through the operation successfully .
